2012 Youth Mission Trip

Here is the 2012 Youth Mission Trip Info:

Bonjour!
The 2012 United Methodist Youth Mission Trip is scheduled for:

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA!
July 21-29, 2012

The 2012 youth mission trip is through TEAMeffort. In New Orleans and throughout the outlying areas, families continue to rebuild their lives in a city that still bares the scars of hurricane Katrina and the destruction it left behind. As the recovery process ends, the process of reestablishing communities continues. You will join others from around the country serving during this New Orleans mission trip to complete home repair projects such as basic repairs, painting, roofing and building wheelchair ramps. You will also have the opportunity to serve alongside area ministries to help reach out through Christian service to an area still in need.

You can make a difference in someone’s life.
You can make a difference in your own life!

Plan to be part of this youth mission trip in 2012.

Transportation:
We will take an AMTRAK train to New Orleans, Louisiana. Our train departs on Saturday, July 21 at 8:00p.m. from Union Station in Chicago with an arrival in New Orleans around 3:30p.m. on Sunday afternoon. We will have vans for transportation during the week. We depart New Orleans on Saturday, July 28 at 1:45p.m. with an arrival in Chicago around 9:00a.m. on Sunday morning.

Lodging:
Our group will stay in bunk-style housing with on-site showers, chapel, gym, and dining hall. All meals are provided except two lunches and two dinners during free time.

Cost:
A deposit of $50.00 is due by Sunday, January 15 to guarantee your spot. The total cost for each person is $400.00. Each person planning to go on the trip can “earn” their way by participating in fundraising opportunities. By working hard, each person can pretty much go for free!  The initial $50.00 deposit will be applied toward the $400.00 total. Come to the youth meetings to hear how you can go on this trip for only $50.00.

Other Requirements:
Each person is required to attend two service projects and six UMYF meetings between December and the trip departure date in order to go on this mission trip.

Fun:
New Orleans is an amazing place. On Friday – after a long hard week of putting our “faith in action”, we will explore the French Quarter, eat a beignet at Café Du Monde, tour a swamp and a New Orleans cemetery and enjoy some good ole southern cooking. Ya’ll will want to go back year after year after year.

The Mission of TEAMeffort:
TEAMeffort is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian youth mission organization dedicated to providing opportunities for both youth and adult leaders to reach out to others through Christian service and live out a passion for God, in the context of "putting our faith into action."
The mission trips are designed to be a mixture of hard work, spiritual growth, and good clean adventurous fun. It is our desire that at the end of each mission trip, the youth will return to their churches in more cohesive groups, sharing in memories that will last a lifetime and enjoying a renewed excitement about what Jesus Christ is doing in all of their lives.
Au Revoir!
