Today's question:
"What do you seek?"
From John 1:
35 The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples; 36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” 37 The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. 38 Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, “What do you seek?”

Reflection from Jan Weber
Have you ever thought about-fantasized what it would be like to spend the day with Jesus? Can you imagine? What would he look like? What would you talk about? Would there be a gentleness in his voice? I wonder what it was about him that drew John the Baptist’s disciples to follow him that day?
It was the day after John had baptized Jesus. John was there again with two of his disciples-men he had baptized and who looked to him as their spiritual teacher. When John sees Jesus passing by he says, “Look the Lamb of God!” These two disciples hearing this leave, walking towards Jesus. Turning around, Jesus realizing they are following him asks, “What is it that you seek?” Wow!! Isn’t this the question for each of us as we encounter Jesus? What do you want of Jesus? What do you want him to do for you? What is it that we seek?
Andrew and the other disciple (who is not named) knew exactly what they wanted. They wanted to spend time with him. Their reply to Jesus’ question was another question. “Rabbi, where are you staying?” Jesus does not seem surprised or taken back, he just says, “Come with me” and they spend the rest of the day with him. Spending a day with Jesus changed their life. They became followers, disciples of Jesus. Their lives were never ordinary again. John 1:41,42 “The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” and he brought him to Jesus.”
Spending time with Jesus that is the key. He has transformed my life just as he transformed Andrew’s and millions of others. I understand Andrew’s exuberance. I too want to share this Good News about the Messiah with all who will listen. He has given me such peace and joy. This Lenten season be like Andrew. When you sense him saying to you, “Come with me”, don’t turn away. Spend time with him. Read the Bible, talk to him. I pray you too will be transformed.

Love this, Jan. Thank you. This is one of those things I’ll ponder in my heart all day. What would it be like to spend the day with Jesus in 2019?

Jan,
Thank you! What a wonderful way to start the season of Lent. I shall be more intentional about my time with Jesus today and everyday!
