"Consequently he is able for all time to save those who approach God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made by human hands, a mere copy of the true one, but he entered into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.”
Reflection from Amanda Dibbern:
Hindsight is 20-20. When events are in the past it is easier to understand or accept them. I was raised in the church and have always understood that Jesus is our intercessor. That is how it has been my whole life. I was talking with my dad about this passage and this study in general and it occurred to me that salvation through Christ was a huge paradigm shift. He became the sacrificial lamb. The last sacrifice ever required by God, provided by God to fulfill God’s expectations. He alone is the way, the truth and the life.
I have often wondered how different it might be had Jesus stayed longer on the Earth. I wondered how His presence might have changed world events, but how grateful I am that he is standing in the presence of His father, God, on our behalf. He already gave His life to save us and now he also intercedes for us directly to God. He knows our needs before we do, what a significant ally.
Dear Jesus, thank you for your eternal gift. Thank you for your ongoing intercession on my behalf. Help me to remember your example and intercede for others in prayer when I know they have a need great or small. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
