Today's question, from John 10:36:
Jesus answered them, "It is not written in your law, 'I said you are gods'? If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and scripture cannot be broken), do you say to him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the word, 'You are blaspheming', because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
Reflection from Lino and Xiomara Aragon
This passage is one of the last interactions among the religious authorities and Jesus, before his crucifixion, Jesus emphasizes that he and his Father are one, and they have the same power. Also Jesus tells them that his father consecrated and sanctified him. God chose him and sent him as the Messiah, although, Jesus has the right to be called the Son of God, making himself equal to God.
The gospel of John talks about the conflict in the past, between Jesus and the religious authority, being that they always see Jesus as a thread, because they know Jesus is the truth and the path to the eternal life.
Today we live the same conflicts. People do not want to know about Jesus. Jesus is not the priority in people’s life. Jesus is absent wherever we go. People blasphemy against God, and forget that God gave us his son to save our life. Sometimes we act like Pharisees; they matter about laws, and forget the most important thing, the love of God, and his grace that reaches all of us.
Today in the name of God, still blaspheming against him, when we decided not to believe in him and follow Jesus, and also we blaspheming when we have not committed our lives to serve him. Sometimes we are “Church Goers,” but Jesus is far away from us. As a human we have the tendency to blasphemy against God.
There is a big difference between the law, and what Jesus taught us. Love is the most important part of God’s covenant that Jesus shows us in the cross.
Jesus invites us to have a close relationship with God, our Father, like Jesus had with him.
Surely it can’t be blasphemy in Christ to assert himself to be the Son of God, who existed as a divine person from all eternity, and also to be the author of eternal salvation to the sons of men.
OUR PRAYER
Our Heavenly Father, strengthen our faith through our Savior Jesus. In spite of contradictions and differences, let us remember during the 40 days of Lent, our compromise that we are loyal to you. We are one in Spirit. Lord help us to continue your legacy to make disciples for the transformation of the world. Thank you Father, for your unconditional love. Thank you God, for dwelling in us, and for sending your only Son to die for me, for you and for all of us. Amen.
Thank you, God, for the amazing God we serve, and may we continue to proclaim your word, so others might know you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Inspiring reflection, thank you. I especially liked the part about "There is a big difference between the law, and what Jesus taught us."

Thank you, Xiomara and Lino, for today’s devotional, reminding us of our call to be God’s faithful disciples. It is easy to be distracted by the things of the world. Yet, the Spirit of God that lives in us draws us back and strengthen us for the journey. Blessings on the two of you and your ministry.
