Today's question:
"Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see."
From John 11:
32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked.
“Come and see, Lord,” they replied.
35 Jesus wept.

Reflection from Elizabeth Bowen
Have you ever had a time in your life where you were dealing with something that caused you deep grief and sorrow? Perhaps the loss of a loved one, marital strife, depression…. During that time, did you need someone who was just willing to show up and be with you and share in your deep grief and sorrow? To walk through it with you? To just be present?
When Jesus asks Mary and Martha “Where have you laid him?” Jesus is doing just that. He is asking, so that he can be the one to go, to be present, and to take on their sorrow as his own. And in turn, Mary and Martha trusted Jesus to do just that. By leading him to the tomb, they showed their faith in him that he would bear their burdens, share their sorrows, and take on their grief. They had faith in Jesus.
Faith; It involves trusting, believing, following, and hoping. During Lent, may we all renew our faith in Jesus, and may we be willing to see our own sin and sorrow and show him the way there.
