Today's question:
"The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?"
From John 21:
16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.
Reflection from Raul Solis
Jesus and the disciples were having breakfast, when Jesus turned to Simon Peter and ask him if he loved him. Jesus asked this question 3 times, each time Peter answered, yes, at which point Jesus would assign him a task. The first being "feed my lambs", then "tend my sheep,” the last task was to "feed my sheep.” The first two questions used the agape type of love, the last question was using the phileo type of love.
Jesus was trying to emphasize the importance of the task he would leaving Peter with. I'm not sure Peter got what Jesus was asking of him, he answered all the questions with the phileo type of love, as in a great friend. I think it was sufficient for Jesus. The point of the caring for the sheep was in reference to the then and future church and its followers.
I have two recent examples of this sort of need of confirmation in my daily life.
My manager asked if I could run sample pieces for a future product. A lot was being asked of me since we had never ran items before. I said I could make it happen, but that I needed time and money. My manager asked me several times. I knew how important this was and I reaffirmed that I could, and I did. Thanks to God!
Recently I questioned my teenage son if he was going to pass a class that was needed to graduate. After about the third or fourth time, my son looked at me and assured me that he was going to graduate and that I didn't need to worry. I'm not going to ask him again, he has six more weeks to go. Please pray for him. Thanks.

Raul, I'm impressed with your strong faith and I believe that by following Christ your questions will be answered regarding your son in the best way, because he sees the good example you have set for him.
